Regulations of the Archaeological Parks of Paestum and Velia

REGULATION

General Provisions

Children under the age of 12 may enter only if accompanied by an adult.

It is recommended to wear flat shoes.

Prohibited Actions

Smoking (including electronic cigarettes)
Consuming food and/or beverages
Entering in swimwear or attire inappropriate to the decorum of the site
Being excessively noisy, speaking on the phone inside the museum (please mute your mobile phone), or disturbing other visitors in any way
Following unmarked paths
Removing archaeological materials
Entering construction sites by crossing barriers or restricted areas
Climbing on walls and monuments
Touching exhibited objects, crossing protective barriers, leaning on display cases, pedestals, or other exhibition elements
Using loudspeakers (for explanations, guided tours, or any other reason)
Bringing large backpacks or bulky bags into the Parks (visitors, especially school groups, are requested to leave their bags on buses)

Park attendants, visitor assistants, and security staff are authorized to ask violators to leave the museum premises and/or the archaeological sites.

Schools

Free Entry: A list of students and accompanying teachers, printed on the school’s official letterhead, must be submitted at the ticket office.

Guided Tours: The Archaeological Parks of Paestum and Velia do not offer internal guided tour services.

Barrier-free tours

Visitors with disabilities and their accompanying person are entitled to free entry.
The National Archaeological Museum of Paestum is fully accessible.
The archaeological site of Paestum has an accessible path running from north to south, allowing entry into the archaic temple (the so-called Basilica).
The museum and the entrances to the Paestum archaeological site are connected by an accessible route.

ZOOM UPHIL

For a more immersive visit, the Zoom Uphill, a free off-road electric vehicle with four-wheel drive, is available to help people with mobility difficulties admire some of the most scenic and iconic areas of the Paestum and Velia archaeological sites.

It is also possible to book guided tours by contacting the concessionaire via email at arte@lenuvole.com or calling +39 081 2395653, available Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Photography and Filming

Amateur photography is permitted.
Flash photography is not allowed inside the Paestum Archaeological Museum.
The use of drones is prohibited unless authorized in advance by the management. Unauthorized use is punishable by law (more details available).
For professional and/or commercial photography and filming (e.g., product advertisements, weddings, TV shows, film sets), prior authorization from the management is required, along with the payment of a concession fee.

Animal access

Archaeological areas: All animals are allowed on a leash and with a muzzle; however, they must not approach temples and monuments.
Museum: Only small pets are allowed if carried in arms or inside a pet carrier.
Owners must clean up after their pets.
Guide dogs are always allowed to accompany visually impaired visitors in both the museum and the archaeological area. They may enter all parts of the archaeological site, including open-access monuments (e.g., the Temple of Neptune and the Basilica).

Ticketing

Tickets can be purchased at the Main Entrance Ticket Office (near the Temple of Neptune) or at the National Archaeological Museum, from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM (last ticket issued at 6:30 PM).
Tickets are valid for 3 days and allow one entry to the museum and the archaeological site of Paestum and one entry to the archaeological site of Velia.
Visitors must keep their tickets for the entire visit, as staff may request to see them at any time.
To receive discounts or free entry, valid proof of eligibility must be shown before ticket issuance.

Cloakroom Service

No cloakroom service is available. School groups are advised to leave their backpacks on buses.

Guided Tour Service

The Archaeological Parks of Paestum and Velia do not provide internal guided tours.

The service can be booked externally by contacting the list of licensed tour guides of the Campania Region at +39 3347221758.
Alternatively, guided tours can be booked through the concessionaire via email at arte@lenuvole.com or by calling +39 081 2395653 (available Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM).

Authorized regional guides are requested to form tourist groups for guided tours outside the park gates.
