The Documents Preserved in the Archive of the National Archaeological Museum of Paestum

The historical archive of the Paestum Museum is divided into three series: the first series consists of 14 folders containing incoming and outgoing correspondence between the Superintendency of Antiquities of Molise and Campania and the National Archaeological Museum of Paestum, covering the period from 1933 to 1939. The second series includes 12 folders containing various documents: correspondence, ratifications, requests for insurance cards, payment statements, and reports related to construction projects managed by the Cassa del Mezzogiorno. The third series comprises 27 folders with documents regarding correspondence related to the construction works carried out in the archaeological area by the Magna Grecia Society.

The historical documentation preserved at the Paestum Museum includes collections of excavation diaries, records of archaeological discoveries, drawings, and photographic materials. Requests for consultation will be evaluated by the Museum’s management and, where possible, accommodated.
