The Parks ticket includes access to the Archaeological Areas of Paestum and of Velia, and the National Archaeological Museum of Paestum. The ticket is valid for three consecutive days.The Parks are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Last admission and ticket office closure: 6:30 p.m.
Booking is not mandatory. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
It is recommended to wear flat, comfortable shoes during your visit.

The Porta Cerere entrance can be used both for entry (by visitors already holding a ticket to the Parks) and for exit.

Access Hours to the Archaeological Areas of Paestum and of Velia

From 30 March 2025 to 21 September 2026, access to the archaeological areas of Paestum and Velia, as well as the Paestum Museum, will follow these regulations:

Every Saturday at 11.00 am and every Sunday at 5.00 pm, with additional tours on the first Sunday of the month.

Visits, for which booking is MANDATORY at: pa-paeve.promozione@cultura.gov.it, are included in the Parks’ admission ticket and in the Paestum&Velia season ticket. Before heading to the Sanctuary for the visits, you must collect your ticket from the Parks’ ticket offices.

Children under the age of 12 may only enter if accompanied by an adult.

We recommend wearing flat shoes.

  • Smoking (this ban also applies to e-cigarettes)

  • Consuming food and/or drink

  • Entering the museum in swimwear or clothing deemed inappropriate for the premisesBehaving noisily, talking on the phone within the museum (please switch off your mobile phone’s ringtone) and causing a disturbance to other visitors in any way

  • Following unmarked routes

  • Removing archaeological artefacts

  • Entering construction sites by climbing over cordoned-off and/or restricted areas

  • Climbing on walls and monuments

  • Touching exhibits and crossing protective barriers, leaning on display cases, plinths and other exhibition elements
    using loudspeakers (for explanations, guided tours or any other reason)

  • Access to the Parks with rucksacks or bulky bags. Visitors, and in particular school groups, are therefore requested to leave their luggage in the care of the bus staff.

    Visitor assistance, reception and security staff are authorised to ask offenders to leave the Museum premises and/or the Archaeological Areas.

For free admission: you must submit a list of the names of the pupils and accompanying teachers on the school’s letterhead to the ticket office.

Guided tours: the Archaeological Parks of Paestum and Velia do not offer an in-house guided tour service.

  • Visitors with disabilities and their carers are entitled to free admission.

  • The National Archaeological Museum of Paestum is fully accessible. The archaeological site of Paestum is accessible via a path running through it from north to south, with access to the interior of the archaic temple (the so-called Basilica). The museum and the entrances to the archaeological site of Paestum are connected by an accessible route.

    ZOOM UPHILL

    For a more immersive visit, the Zoom Uphill is available free of charge. This is a four-wheel-drive electric off-road vehicle that allows even those with walking difficulties to admire some of the most evocative and iconic sites in the archaeological areas of Paestum and Velia.

  • Amateur photography is permitted
  • The use of flash photography is prohibited in the Archaeological Museum of Paestum
  • The use of drones is prohibited unless prior authorisation has been granted by the management. Unauthorised use is punishable by law (further information)
  • For professional and/or commercial photography (e.g. to advertise a product, for weddings, for television broadcasts, film sets, etc.), prior authorisation must be sought from the management and the licence fee must be paid
  • Archaeological Areas: entry is permitted for all animals on a leash and wearing a muzzle; it is forbidden to approach temples and monuments.

  • Museum: entry is permitted only for small animals, which must be carried in arms or kept in a pet carrier.

  • Dog waste must be collected.

  • Guide dogs are always allowed to accompany visually impaired visitors in the museum and in the archaeological area. They may access all parts of the archaeological area, including inside monuments open to the public (Temple of Neptune and the Basilica).

  • It is possible to purchase the प्रवेश ticket at the Main Gate ticket office—near the Temple of Neptune—or at the National Archaeological Museum, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (last ticket issued at 6:30 p.m.).

  • The ticket is valid for 3 days and allows one entry to the museum and the archaeological area of Paestum, as well as one entry to the archaeological area of Velia.

  • Each visitor must keep their ticket for the entire duration of the visit, as staff are authorized to request it at any time during the route.

  • To benefit from reduced or free admission, it is essential to present proof of eligibility before the ticket is issued.

  •  

There is no cloakroom service available. School groups are advised to leave their rucksacks on the buses.

The Paestum and Velia Archaeological Parks do not offer an in-house guided tour service.

On the first Sunday of the month, when admission is free, there is no need to book in advance to visit the Archaeological Parks of Paestum and Velia. All you need to do is collect your free ticket from our ticket offices.
