The Archaeological Parks of Paestum and Velia

The Archaeological Parks of Paestum and Velia are part of the Italian Ministry of Culture, enjoy special administrative autonomy, and have been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998.

The Parks oversee a wide range of historic sites, including the museum and ancient ruins of Paestum, the Narrating Museum of Hera Argiva at the mouth of the Sele River, the remains of the former Cirio factory, the ancient city walls, and other nearby archaeological areas. They also manage the archaeological site of Velia, located in the town of Ascea (SA).

Their mission is to preserve and enhance these unique cultural treasures, making them accessible and engaging for visitors, while ensuring their protection for future generations.The Parks also carry out research in archaeology, art history, and architecture, and work closely with Italian and international institutions to share knowledge and develop new projects.
